The main entrance to the Forbidden City, near Tiananmen Square in central Beijing. Also known as the Imperial Palace and Gugong and built built between 1406 and 1420 during the Ming Dynasty. It used to be the imperial home for 24 emperors of the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.
